SS//25 DROP:ONE
COLLECTION

There’s an old Greek joke and I think is timeless kiddo:

God was handing out land to all the nations of the Earth. The Germans came and asked for something efficient. The French requested something elegant. The British wanted something proud and rainy. One by one, the nations arrived and received their share.

Then, as the line was ending and God was about to rest, the Greeks arrived late.

“Sorry, my child,” God said. “I’ve given everything away.”

“Please, God,” the Greek pleaded, “just a small corner… for us.”

God paused, smiled, and said:

“I had kept a little piece of paradise just for myself. But it’s alright. Take it.”

This story and partially joke & myth, speaks to a national self-image.

Beneath the sun-drenched mythology and postcard beauty lies a “Greek Wasteland”.

Greece is a place that history feels heavy and the future feels delayed. It’s a place marked by lost potential, marked by economic instability, government corporation, cultural fatigue & a sense of No Future. In this landscape its habitats called “Neo-Greek”. Who is the Neo-Greek? What is his aesthetic heritage? A touristic sold-out with a neo-kitsch aesthetic? Lost between Western mimicry and traditional nostalgia.

This Collection aims to start a conversation about what it means to be Greek in a globalized world, where cultural exchanges and human connection transcends boarders. The existential crisis of the Neo-Greek & aesthetical cultural heritage reflects his internal cognitive dissonance about what is.

A Greek Tavern food for thought, kiddo!
